Job Title
General Responsibilities
Performs responsible protective service work maintaining security alarms for the school division; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Essential Tasks
The following duties are normal for this position. - Monitors building alarms from central station office.
- Dispatches appropriate emergency response personnel as necessary.
- Dispatches appropriate school personnel as necessary.
- Performs data entry.
- Performs clerical duties to include filing and shredding.
- Conducts surveillance of the central station office.
- Utilizes information on mainframe.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of practices concerning the protection of school buildings and grounds; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to recognize and identify activities or situations which have or may become a problem or emergency requiring immediate attention; ability to think and act quickly, effectively, and responsibly under emergency situations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students, and teachers; ability to perform computer operations; knowledge of security procedures.
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some security experience.
Physical Requirements
This is light work requiring the ability to sit at a desk for an eight hour shift. The amount of walking is minimal. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.

The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions.
