Location: Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV) – NightsScheduled Weekly Hours: 40Worker Type: Regular (Non‑Exempt)Job Summary Responsible for maintaining safety and security for an assigned area. Maintains safety and security of patients, visitors, and employees; conducts routine patrols of assigned areas to keep property and persons free from risk; responds to emergencies, fire alarms, hazardous material incidents; deals with conflict and stressful situations on a routine basis.Responsibilities Conduct routine patrols on foot or by car of assigned areas; enforce hospital rules of conduct; identify unauthorized persons, unusual physical factors, and mechanical malfunctions; report or resolve problems as appropriate.Complete detailed written shift reports and maintain patrol logs.Direct firefighting activities; inspect buildings for fire and safety hazards; enforce fire and safety rules; participate in fire drills and safety programs; work cooperatively with local fire departments.Direct traffic on hospital property; enforce traffic and parking regulations; assist patients, visitors, and employees with vehicle problems per policy and training.Provide routine escort and emergent delivery services to campus facilities.Participate in orientation of new employees and students in fire, safety, and security policies; train in fire‑fighting techniques and use of equipment.Lock all doors in designated areas after business hours and unlock at the start of business hours.Operate security technology equipment, including personal computers, CCTV systems, fire alarm system, access control systems, security alarm systems, and radios.Perform emergency and hazardous material response services according to training, policy, and equipment capabilities.Perform security and emergency services related to site emergency management plans; train in the Hospital Emergency Incident Command System roles.Perform set‑up duties related to the Emergency Operations Center.Investigate employee, visitor, and patient complaints; cooperate with local police departments and authorities.Complete detailed reports on incidents, thefts, and losses.Respond to requests for assistance involving patients; assist in locating patients; assist Life Flight with unloading patients and equipment as necessary.Coordinate and perform prisoner escort duties consistent with protocol.Assist and direct patients and visitors to areas within the Medical Center; furnish information as requested; provide assistance to handicapped, wheelchair‑eligible, and elderly persons upon arrival and departure; ensure an adequate supply of wheelchairs at the hospital entrance.Accountable for satisfying all job‑specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.Position Details (GLH Only) Successful completion of or current Emergency Vehicle Operator's Certification (EMSVO) approved by the PA Department of Health within 90 days of hire date.Maintain certification while employed as a Security Officer.Drive ambulance to and from the hospital to the helipad to transport flight crews and patients as necessary.Assure vehicle readiness, including fueling; report any operational issues to the Security Supervisor or Manager.Provide vehicle assistance; no direct patient care, except lifting/moving a patient into or out of the ambulance and helicopter as necessary.Education High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – RequiredExperience Minimum of 1 year related work experience – PreferredCertifications & Licenses Valid Driver's License – Default Issuing BodySkills CommunicationEqual Opportunity Employer Geisinger is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer.
