Overview The Alaska Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for multiple Correctional Officer1 positions at the Lemon Creek Correctional Complex (LCCC) located in Juneau, Alaska.What You Will Be Doing Operate a week‑on, week‑off schedule with alternating day and night shifts, having only 6 months of work each year.Provide supervision of inmates under the guidance of a Field Training Officer during orientation.Complete structured field training and a 7‑week Correctional Officer Academy within the first 12‑14 months.Obtain the Alaska Police Standards Council (APSC) Correctional Officer Certificate and be promoted to Correctional Officer2 upon successful completion.Our Mission, Values, and Culture The mission of the Alaska Department of Corrections is to promote public safety by providing secure confinement, access to re‑formative programs, and offender management planning that supports successful community reentry. Mandatory overtime may be required if staffing levels fall below minimum.Who We Are Looking For Highly motivated applicant with strong written and oral communication skills.Assertive leadership, initiative, maturity, and the ability to adapt to change.Excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude, flexibility, honesty, integrity, and willingness to admit mistakes.Proficiency with computers and attention to detail.Ability to interface with other agencies, the public, and knowledge of Department policies and procedures.Must be 21 years of age, a U.S. citizen or national, and meet the educational requirements (high school diploma or GED).Valid driver's license and willingness to work shifts and on‑call time.Legal & Eligibility Requirements Appointment is conditional upon a successful background investigation, psychological evaluation, drug screening, and medical examination. Past felony convictions, certain misdemeanors, or prior denial by the Alaska Police Standards Council void the application.
