The position prioritizes facility security, safety monitoring, and incident prevention, while also supporting a welcoming and respectful member experience.Essential Functions Primary Responsibilities – Security & Safety Serve as the primary licensed security guard for the YMCA facilityMaintain a visible security presence at the Welcome Center and throughout the buildingConduct and document security rounds of the entire facility at least once per hour, including entrances, exits, locker rooms, corridors, program spaces, stairwells, and restricted areasMonitor for safety hazards, unauthorized access, suspicious activity, and policy violationsEnsure doors, access points, and secured areas are properly controlledEnforce YMCA policies, membership access rules, and guest procedures respectfully and consistentlyRespond promptly to incidents, disturbances, or emergenciesDe‑escalate conflicts calmly and professionally using trauma-informed practicesCoordinate with YMCA leadership and emergency responders as neededComplete incident reports and hourly security logs accurately and on timeSupport emergency response procedures including evacuations, medical incidents, and lockdownsMaintain heightened situational awareness during peak hours, youth programming, and special eventsSecondary Responsibilities – Member Experience Support Provide a professional, welcoming, and respectful presence to all members, guests, and visitorsSupport Welcome Center operations in coordination with the Member Experience Associate during high-traffic periods and special eventsAssist with basic member check-in flow, access verification, and wayfindingHelp maintain an organized, professional, and safe front desk and lobby environmentProvide general information regarding YMCA programs, schedules, and facility useRefer membership transactions and complex inquiries to Membership staffObserve member interactions and report concerns or safety issues to leadershipPromote YMCA programs, events, and community initiativesModel YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and ResponsibilitySupport inclusive practices aligned with the YMCA's “Most Welcoming Place” and “Listen First” approachLeadership Competencies Safety Awareness and AccountabilityConflict Resolution and De-escalationProfessional Presence and JudgmentEmotional Intelligence and InclusionTeam CollaborationQualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferredCurrent New York State Security Guard License required, including 8-hour Pre-Assignment Training and 16-hour On-the-Job TrainingMinimum of one year of security, law enforcement, or related experience preferredExperience in community-based or public-access facilities strongly preferredAbility to remain calm, observant, and professional in dynamic environmentsStrong verbal communication skillsBasic computer literacyCPR/AED certification required or willingness to obtain within 30 daysBilingual (English/Spanish) preferredWork Environment and Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periodsRegular movement throughout a multi-area facilityOccasional lifting or movement of up to 25 poundsIndoor, community-centered environment with frequent public interaction#J-18808-Ljbffr
