Job Description Summary As the Campus Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining campus safety and security, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and responding to emergencies.Responsibilities Complete all required training and maintain all required certification(s) for all aspects of security protectionRespond to on-site emergenciesMaintain effective campus access controlsMaintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license (permitting operation in New York State)Maintain all licenses, certifications and other authorizations required under applicable laws, rules and regulations (federal, state, local and other) to carry out the duties of Security OfficerOperate computers and equipment for writing reports, email communications, computer-based surveillance and intrusion detection systems, access control platforms, protection devices, fire protection and suppression platforms, and patrol tour reporting systemsDetect, deter and report suspicious activity or findingsRespond to emergency incidents including but not limited to fire, spills, medical, motor vehicle accidents, water breaks, odors, floodsQualifications High School Diploma / GEDCurrent valid State of New York Security Guard License (must have completed the 16-hour course)Ability to work 3rd Shift (10pm – 6am)Eligibility Requirements Background check, drug screen, and driving record check as required for operating a GEV vehicle for company businessSufficient proficiency with computer and other equipment to operate writing reports, sending/receiving email, surveillance and intrusion detection systems, access control platforms, protection devices, fire protection and suppression platforms, and patrol tour reporting systemsCapable and willing to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time; able and willing to climb and descend stairs; able to spend extensive time exposed to environmental elementsClear and efficient follow of directionLiability to communicate effectively in English in all oral and written communicationsDesired Characteristics Associate degree in criminal justice, Security, or other criminal justice discipline from an accredited college or universityPrevious law enforcement, military or industrial security experienceFirst Aid / AED / CPR certificationTrained in incipient firefighting techniquesInterpersonal skills to interface with employees, contractors, visitors, customers, delivery drivers, etc.Experience with 2-way radioCall taking / dispatching experience in an emergency and service-related environmentExperience in conducting minor criminal investigationsExperience in conducting Motor Vehicle Accident Investigations (Basic Level)Ability and willingness to complete written reports accuratelyProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and OutlookCompensation The hourly rate for this position is $26.74 hr. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
