At First Student, Dispatchers are integral to our commitment to safety and customer service. In this role the dispatcher oversees all bus routes, ensures on‑time performance, and provides coaching and support to drivers and monitors.Compensation $24–26 per hour, commensurate with experience, Monday–Friday, full time 1st shift.Dispatcher Responsibilities Oversee all routes and scheduling of buses.Counsel and coach drivers and monitors.Handle heavy phone and radio traffic.Process scheduling and driver complaints and report to the Operations Supervisor/Contract Manager.Serve as the primary communication liaison with major contracted customers.Manage charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll as needed.Provide solutions to drop‑off and pick‑up problems.Perform backup driver duties or miscellaneous clerical duties.Complete assignment of special projects.Assist with supervision of day‑to‑day operations.Dispatcher Experience and Skills Required 3–5 years of relevant experience.High school diploma or equivalent.Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Ability to deliver under time constraints and deadlines.Previous terminal operations, dispatch, or driver experience.Computer literacy.Subject to DOT drug testing and physical exam in accordance with 49 CFR Part 40.First Student is an equal opportunity employer.
