To ensure your application is complete, please follow the steps outlined below.ResponsibilitiesThe Surveillance Technician conducts and reports surveillance on healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs) using standardized definitions and other epidemiologically important organisms to identify trends, in collaboration with Infection Preventionists (IP) and the Data Manager. The role uses electronic databases and software tools to report data to national and local stakeholders. It performs process measure audits using chart reviews and analyzes data on hand hygiene, isolation compliance, and HAI prevention bundle elements. The position provides feedback to IPs, staff and hospital leadership to drive outcomes and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards.QualificationsBachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field or associates in nursing required.At least a year of healthcare or public health experience preferred.Knowledge of principles of epidemiology, infection prevention, infectious diseases and microbiology preferred.Demonstrated ability in the following key skills/attributes: Analytical, Problem solving, Collaboration, Oral and written communication, Conflict resolution, Data mining, report writing, and data presentation, Adaptability, Self-motivation, Familiar with software technologies.Ability to flex schedule to ensure that off-shifts receive expertise and guidance from the Department of Clinical Epidemiology.Additional InformationLocation: University Hospital - Pavilion (0372)Position Type: RegularScheduled Hours: 40Shift: First ShiftFinal candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
