Loss Prevention Specialist
The Loss Prevention Specialist is responsible for protecting company assets by helping reduce shrink, theft, fraud, safety risks, and operational losses. This position supports store leadership through investigations, monitoring, training, and compliance efforts while promoting a safe and secure environment for customers and employees. The Loss Prevention Specialist works closely with management teams to identify risks, investigate incidents, and implement strategies that improve overall asset protection performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor store operations to identify potential theft, fraud, and loss prevention concerns.
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Review inventory discrepancies and assist in identifying root causes of shrink.
- Support initiatives designed to reduce operational losses and improve profitability.
- Observe and document suspicious activity involving customers, vendors, or employees.
Investigations:
- Conduct thorough and professional investigations related to theft, fraud, policy violations, and workplace incidents.
- Gather, document, and preserve evidence in accordance with company guidelines.
- Prepare accurate reports detailing investigative findings and recommendations.
- Partner with store leadership, Human Resources, and other departments during investigations.
- Assist law enforcement and provide information when appropriate and authorized.
Safety & Compliance:
- Promote a culture of safety by identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to company security standards and loss prevention programs.
- Monitor compliance with cash handling, receiving, inventory control, and operational procedures.
- Support accident investigations and maintain required documentation.
- Assist stores in maintaining emergency preparedness and security protocols.
Training & Development:
- Educate employees on loss prevention awareness and company policies.
- Provide coaching related to safety, security, and shrink reduction best practices.
- Support management teams in developing action plans to address identified risks.
- Reinforce ethical standards and encourage a culture of accountability.
Partnership & Communication:
- Build positive working relationships with store leadership and associates.
- Communicate findings, trends, and opportunities for improvement to management.
- Support district and regional asset protection objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous retail, asset protection, security, investigative, or law enforcement experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and other business systems.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently move throughout store locations.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to travel between assigned locations as required.
- Ability to view and analyze surveillance footage and other investigative materials.
