COO - OperationsThe primary purpose of this position is to administer the overall security and daily operations of either Central Prison or North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women through the established policies and procedures for the daily operation of one of the state's two maximum security, close custody institutions housing death row. This position is responsible for the planning, directing, coordination, and supervision of approximately 800 to 1000 employees who provide round-the-clock custody supervision for such an institution housing approximately 1,100 1600 inmates daily. This position will assist the Warden and Deputy Warden in determining long range operational objectives for approximately 11 specialized populations to include Regular Population, Maximum Control, Intensive Control, Protective Control, Disciplinary Segregation, Death Row, Safekeepers, Pre-Sentence Diagnostic, Processing, Out-Patient Treatment, and In-Patient Treatment. Additionally, inmates assigned to High Security Maximum Control (HCON) are housed at these facilities for special medical and medical and mental health needs. This position also provides input in the development of overall internal standards and procedures designed to meet institutional goals.Key duties include:Responsible for planning and administering the custody and operations of a maximum-security institution housing over 1,000 offenders and employing approximately 1,200 employeesAssists the Warden and Deputy Warden in determining long range operational objectives for 11 specialized populationsProvides input in the development of overall internal standards and procedures designed to meet institutional needsEstablishes operational priorities related to offender security, housing, movement & transportation requirements Reviews & evaluates institution security proceduresServes as a member of the institution management team to provide input on projected maintenance & replacement requirements for institutional equipment; evaluate, prioritize budget needsAssists the Warden & Deputy Warden in carrying out court mandated executionsActs in the absence of the Warden or Deputy Warden in administrative policy & procedureExperience working at a Captain level or higher within a prison environment.Compensation and Benefits:The State of North Carolina offers excellent comprehensive benefits.
