About the Role

The Company is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to serve as a key legal advisor to agency leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal assignments, including providing legal opinions, drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, rules, and legislation, and ensuring compliance with procurement, ethics, administrative law, and public records. This role requires close collaboration with legislative staff, oversight of agency litigation, and the ability to respond accurately and in a timely manner to public access inquiries. The Deputy General Counsel will also contribute to training efforts, monitor outside legal services, and keep agency leadership informed of legal developments that may impact operations.Applicants for the Deputy General Counsel position at the company should have a Doctorate of Jurisprudence and a minimum of 5 years of experience, with admission to the Indiana State Bar. The role demands advanced knowledge of laws, legal codes, and court procedures, as well as the ability to supervise and manage legal division staff. The ideal candidate will have a background in practicing law at a municipal, county, or federal government agency and possess excellent writing, communication, and legal research skills. The Deputy General Counsel must be able to work with integrity, maintain effective relationships, and contribute to a culture of teamwork and excellent customer service.
