Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age at time of hire.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory seven (7) year driving history including NO DUI'S or BUI'S (Boating Under the Influence) within five (5) years, or excessive violation.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Free of any felony convictions or sufficient misdemeanor convictions to evidence a pattern.
- Successful completion of fitness evaluation, written exam, background check including criminal and credit history and interviews.
- Ability to meet physical and mental demands of the position
- Must become certified as a Georgia Firefighter/AEMT within one year of hire.
- Must be able to attain status as a relief driver within two (4) years of hire
Equivalency:
- Candidates that have any of the following may not need to take the Accuplacer Exam: AEMT/ Firefighter certification or Paramedic certification, Accuplacer Next Generation Reading, Writing & Arithmetic passing scores within the past two years.
- Lateral Program may be considered for candidates with a minimum of a State of Georgia Firefighter I certificate and an Advanced EMT License, or a State of Georgia Firefighter I certification and a Paramedic License.
