About the Convention Department

The Department of Convention and Entertainment Facilities focuses on maximizing economic impact throughout the City and its stakeholders by hosting national, regional and local events in Kansas City, Missouri. Utilizing our venues in the heart of the City, and partnering with Visit KC as a strategic ally in efforts to enhance Kansas City as a key destination, we leverage assets and personnel to establish industry partnerships while attracting visitors to hotels, restaurants, event venues, and leisure travel to our City. With a strong focus on customer service, team members of the Department of Convention and Entertainment Facilities strive for excellence and expertise in support of over 300 events annually held within our facilities.

Responsibilities

What you'll do
  • Performs general carpentry work including cabinetwork, installing flooring, building concrete forms, and furniture repair to maintain safe, functional, and professional facility spaces
  • Performs repairs, maintain building structures, and complete related tasks to ensure facilities remain operational and meet quality standards
  • Makes designs, fabricate, rebuild, manufacture, repair, and modify parts and equipment for convention and entertainment facilities to support ongoing operations
  • Performs assigned painting work throughout the facility, helping preserve building appearance and extend the life of surfaces
  • Receives painting supply inventories, inspect work sites, calculate materials needed, and complete work orders efficiently to avoid delays and reduce waste
