Sr. Engineer

Location: Hanscom AFB Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: Negotiable Contractor Work Model: Onsite Hours: 40.0 Security Clearance: TS/SCI

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to extend or modify existing theories and assumptions.
  • Resolve unique or novel problems, conditions, or issues requiring significant alterations to standard practices, equipment, and processes.
  • Provide expert technical advice to colleagues and agency officials responsible for broad program operations.
  • Support digital engineering concepts and techniques throughout the program lifecycle, including Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Evaluate new or improved technologies, strategies, trends, and applications for relevance and applicability.
  • Investigate, predict, and anticipate issues extending beyond a single specialty area affecting standards and approaches.
  • Develop or collaborate on new standards, concepts, or theories to enhance engineering practices.
  • Advocate strategies and actions to resolve conflicting, controversial, or complex issues and policies.
  • Perform needs analysis to identify opportunities for systems engineering program improvements.
  • Conduct problem/gap analysis, trade space analysis, and develop science and technology roadmaps and concepts.
  • Incorporate system security and resiliency in designs to meet operational needs.
  • Develop cost estimates and evaluate alternative plans to ensure system performance per specifications.
  • Prepare management reports and technical presentations for planning and implementation.
  • Draft technical documents specifying system, functional, and subsystem requirements.
  • Ensure proper integration of system components and external systems.
  • Design and perform system-level tests to verify performance compliance.
  • Manage and sustain the program technical baseline.
  • Provide engineering support and training for programs including acquisition, development, sustainment, and deployment.
  • Support risk management activities in accordance with Air Force processes.
  • Assist in integrating communications systems and Modular Open System Architectures such as Open Mission Systems for NC3 modernization.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a systems engineering role.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; additional experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • Deep knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and methods.
  • Ability to evaluate and implement new technologies, strategies, and trends.
  • Experience developing or collaborating on standards, applications, or theories.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills to ensure program integrity, quality, and effectiveness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen with a current Top Secret clearance with SCI access (TS/SCI).
