Job DescriptionThis is the first level of the crime and intelligence analyst series. This class is responsible for assisting law enforcement personnel with criminal investigations. Analysts will be working in the Situational Awareness Crime Response Center (SACRC) with the potential of also working in the Crime and Intelligence Unit.Essential DutiesAssists law enforcement by researching computer databases, reviewing active public safety events, and analyzing criminal statistics.Tracks and reviews case files, incident reports, criminal complaints, and other material in order to analyze criminal activity.Prepares, edits, and distributes crime bulletins and 'bolos' to keep proper departments and agencies informed of possible criminal activity.Communicates information to various law enforcement personnel via radio, telephone, or electronic means.Assists public safety personnel with situational awareness through the utilization of map-based programs.Assists in maintaining case files documentation such as wire taps, interviews, surveillance, reports and ensures compliance with federal guidelines.Prepares case documentation for trial and/or predictive analytical reports and presentations detailing criminal activity, forecasting crime patterns, and developing target profile analysis within the County to assist with the allocation of resources.Assists in executing wiretaps, surveillance, and other investigative research operations.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.GradeThis position is a grade B231.Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.Minimum QualificationsAssociate's degree in criminal justice or a related field.One year of experience in an analytical capacity or one year experience in a law enforcement capacity.An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.Other Requirements/InformationValid Driver's License from state of residency.This position requires work on various shifts, weekends, holidays, or other periods.GCIC/NCIC Certification within six months of hire.Crime and Intelligence Analyst certification from California State University, Sacramento within one year or at department discretion.Equal Employment OpportunityGwinnett County is committed to creating a diverse workforce.
