And with additional pay awarded for any combination of Law Enforcement, Corrections, or Military experience, your earning potential is increased! If you complete the Academy and receive your P.O.S.T. certification, you'll be promoted to Deputy Sheriff, with a new salary of $56,947.ResponsibilitiesYou will perform law enforcement and public safety work.Responsible for the safety and security of inmates in custody.Book, process, search, and seize personal property of arrestees and new inmates.Issue uniforms, escort, secure, provide meals to inmates and maintain shift logs.Respond to assistance calls from other officers and must have the ability to defend yourself.Required to respond to any location within the jail by running.Learn first aid and CPR to successfully rescue an unconscious/injured person.Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.Supervise inmates directly and have direct contact with them.The position can be high-stress and may involve verbal and/or physical confrontations.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED from an accredited school.At least 20 years old.Correctable vision of 20/20 or 20/40 in each eye.Must pass a physical exam, drug screen, and background investigation.Must be able to complete Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Certification for Jail Officer and a Basic Law Enforcement Officer.Background InvestigationPlease note that an investigation will be conducted based on your provided information. You must complete the application form honestly, accurately, and to the best of your knowledge. If it is discovered during the background investigation or after that that you have deliberately omitted, misrepresented, or falsified any information, you will be immediately disqualified from further consideration. You must disclose all convictions, including a plea of guilty or nolo contendere, and a finding or a verdict of guilt in any criminal proceedings, even if the sentence or the judgment of guilt has been withheld or not entered thereon.
