Physician - Primary Care (Sign-on Bonus & Education Debt Repayment)
The Veterans Health Administration was recruiting two experienced Board Certified/Board Eligible Primary Care Physicians for the Tomah VA Medical Center in Tomah, WI. This position provides comprehensive primary care for Veterans, including diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, emergency management, follow-up, specialty referrals, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care for Veterans.
- Perform histories, physical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Coordinate emergency treatment and transfers when necessary.
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic testing.
- Adjust medications and treatment plans.
- Refer patients to specialists and coordinate home health services.
- Document all patient care in the VA electronic medical record.
- Serve as a consultant and supervising physician for physician assistants when appropriate.
- Participate as a full member of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Maintain BLS and ACLS certification and rotate as backup Medical Officer of the Day.
Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited).
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an approved institution.
- Current, full, unrestricted medical license in a U.S. State or Territory.
- Completion of an approved residency program leading to board eligibility/certification.
- English language proficiency.
- Successful background investigation, credentialing, pre-employment physical, and drug screening.
- Participation in the VA influenza vaccination program.
Preferred Experience:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Primary Care specialty.
- Experience using computerized electronic medical record systems.
- Experience supervising advanced practice providers.
