If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.Responsibilities Perform fire protection design activities as directed by a Senior Fire Protection Engineer, including conceptual studies, program requirements, design analyses, calculations, systems selection and layout for building designPrepare programming documents, schematic documents, design development documents, and construction documents as directedCoordinate and communicate with design team members to ensure fire protection design details integrate with other disciplinesPrepare marketing and presentation materials as directedSupport bidding processes, including preparing addenda and amendments and assisting with opening and tabulating bidsSupport construction phase activities, including field visits, responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings as directedComply with quality control policies and proceduresLearn and implement department and company standardsDevelop analysis and design skillsParticipate in team meetings and coordinate with other team membersWork with and take direction from Department Director, Managing Principals, Project Managers, Design Managers, Senior Fire Protection Engineers and senior managementCollaborate with a team of architects, engineers, interior designers and landscape architectsRequired Skills Ability to prepare effective and concise documentsTechnical precision and creative design skillsAbility to make effective presentations to a variety of groupsCan-do attitude with a commitment to professional servicesDedication to professional development and to the success of colleagues and the firmRequired Experience Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or a post-graduate degree in Fire Protection EngineeringSuccessful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examinationPursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure within 48 months of hireUnderstanding of sustainable design principles; LEED AP accreditation desirableAdditional certifications such as CDT, CCS, or CCCA encouragedAbility to utilize company software for word processing, e-mail, and information managementWorking familiarity with design and production software for development of project documentsUp to 4 years of post-graduation fire protection engineering experience, including code analysis, design calculations, coordination, and construction-phase supportInternship experience desirablePrior experience in an Engineering or multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm desirableExperience and working knowledge of applicable building codes and standardsWorking Conditions We offer a flexible hybrid work schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed. Most work is desk-based; occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of minimal weight may be required. The office environment is designed to be comfortable, well-lit, and free from hazards.
