This job announcement has closed.ResponsibilitiesApply technical understanding of precision handwork to calculate measurements, finish, or shape items by operating conventional and specialized machines and tools.Independently plan the sequence of work, determine intensity, coordinate with other personnel, and communicate timeframes.Maintain a clear, concise, and detailed written report of each restoration or fabrication project, including daily entries and drawings.Develop unique and specific designs for the fabrication process used to restore objects.QualificationsGS‑11 Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS‑09 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in the tool and die field utilizing manual lathes, knee milling machines, and shop equipment; hand‑tools experience with micrometers, calipers, and hole gauges; and preservation and/or restoration experience of cultural objects, including moving, conserving, and restoring objects using equipment such as forklifts, gantries, pallet jacks, dollies, and vehicles, and disassembling, assembling, cradling, or creating mounts for artifacts or aerospace equipment.Experience may include paid or unpaid work, including volunteer work.
