Security Guard- Level III Certification
Under direct supervision from the Beaumont ISD police department, provide security and protection for students, campus personnel, patrons, and district property.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Level 3-Armed Security Officer License
- Must pass a psychological examination
- Must complete and pass a Physical Agility Test
- Experience as a security guard, preferred
- Texas Driver License
- Must not have a history of criminal activity
- Ability to record information
- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
- Ability to work effectively with students
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Working knowledge of personal and property security techniques and electronic security systems
- Possess skills and interest in working within an educational environment
- Sensitivity and maturity to work effectively with students
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Safety and Security
- Assist in protection of students, staff, and district property
- Serve as a security resource to students and campus personnel
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with faculty and law enforcement personnel
- Assist in implementing the Campus Emergency Plan
- Ensure the security of the assigned campus by conducting perimeter checks
- Identify unauthorized persons and verify their authority
- Report all criminal offenses to the district's police department
- Prepare and file all appropriate reports
- Appear in court and/or hearings as a witness or complainant
- Provide a general and consistent adult presence at critical locations during school related events
- Provide random security patrol on assigned campus
- Respond to calls for service
- Coordinate security services with Beaumont ISD police personnel
- Provide assistance during disasters
- Inform the Chief of Police of all conditions that effect safety and security
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned
Equipment Used: Two-way radio, CCTV, personal computer, alarm systems, lethal and less lethal weapons, firearms, handcuffs
Working Conditions:
- Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
- Physical Demands: Ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent confrontations
- Environmental Demands: Work indoors and outdoors in varying climate conditions; and may be exposed to vehicle exhaust
