Security Guard

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Security Guard. This job announcement will remain open until a sufficient number of applications are received and may close at any time. Requirements and preferences include patrolling facilities and properties either on foot or by vehicle, screening visitors and employees, monitoring security systems, and completing security logs and event reports with accuracy. Minimum education and experience requirements include one year of security experience or closely related experience. Special certifications and licenses include a valid Florida Class E Driver's License and a valid Security Guard License - Florida.

Duties and responsibilities include patrolling assigned areas, protecting persons, property, and information, investigating and reporting hazards and unusual or suspicious circumstances, monitoring security cameras, disseminating directional information, supervising security operations, and ensuring all officers are trained and able to perform their duties. Competencies include action-oriented, planning and aligning, ensuring accountability, driving results, communicating effectively, and organizational savvy.

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. During emergency conditions, all County employees are automatically considered emergency service workers and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
