Lateral Transfer Patrol Officer

Job OverviewThe Huntley Police Department is accepting lateral candidates for the position of Police Officer. Applicants will be entered into a candidate pool and considered when a position becomes available.Key ResponsibilitiesWork to protect life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances.Prevent crime, apprehend criminals, and enforce legal statutes.May be assigned to uniformed patrol, crime prevention, investigative work, juvenile work, or other specialized departmental activities.Exercise independent judgment and act without direct supervision during routine and complex emergency situations.Engage in significant public contact, exercising discretion and tact.Receive general instructions from a superior officer and have work methods evaluated through reports, observations, and discussions.Minimum QualificationsSuccessfully completed the Illinois Basic Law Enforcement Academy and hold certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, or be qualified under Out of State Reciprocity.U.S. citizen, or legally authorized to work in the United States.At least 21 years old.High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree required unless 60 college credits toward a bachelor's degree have been completed or qualifying military service is present.At least 2 years of full‑time sworn, certified law enforcement experience within the past 3 years (municipal experience preferred).Good standing in the current police department or laid off due to budgetary restraints.No felony convictions or misdemeanors involving moral turpitude.Possess skills equivalent to a full‑time officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the Village.Valid Illinois Driver's License and ability to obtain a firearm/weapon license.Valid Firearms Owners ID (FOID) card.Additional RequirementsEligibility for background investigation, polygraph exam, psychological interview, medical exam, and drug screening.Ability to successfully complete all required post‑offer screening and examinations.BenefitsFull‑time employees receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and life insurance.
