General PurposeThe Baraboo Police Department is seeking certified candidates to join our team as a Patrol Officer. Our department strives to protect and serve our community, working closely with residents to address problems. General police functions include, but are not limited to: protecting life and property; patrolling; enforcing criminal, traffic, and city ordinance law; and maintaining public peace.Essential Job Functions and ResponsibilitiesArrest persons with and without warrants and assist in prosecutions as required.Investigate complaints assigned and take appropriate actions, including follow‑up investigations when necessary.Issue warnings, citations, and summons under departmental policy.Subdue resisting or violent persons.Handcuff and transport suspects or prisoners.Mediate civil disputes.Participate in formal training programs.Perform other duties as needed.QualificationsCompletion of, or current enrollment in, a Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) approved police academy.United States citizenship.Minimum age of 20 ½ years at the time of application.Valid driver's license.No felony or domestic‑abuse related convictions.High school diploma or GED/HSED.Preferred: Associate's Degree, bachelor's degree, or at least 60 college credits from a two‑ or four‑year institution.Eligibility for or possession of a Wisconsin LESB certification.Residence within 25 miles of City Hall within one year of hire.Salary$35.06 – $39.70.Lateral OpportunitiesInquire about lateral opportunities.BenefitsPaid holidays – 11 days.Vacation and sick leave.Longevity pay.Fitness on duty encouraged.Clothing allowance.Health, dental, vision, life, and accident insurance.Wisconsin retirement fund.Deferred compensation.Equal Opportunity EmployerCity of Baraboo is an equal opportunity employer.#J-18808-Ljbffr
