Position Overview This position serves as the Supervisory Supply Technician (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System. As a Supervisory Supply Technician, you will ensure that supplies and materials are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics by directing, supervising and managing the primary inventory point that receives, stores and issues supplies and materials for both clinical and administrative service areas of the medical center.Qualifications Time‑In‑Grade Requirement : Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade within the past 52 weeks must also meet time‑in‑grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS‑07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS‑06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF‑50 that shows your time‑in‑grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF‑50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one‑year time‑in‑grade, as required by the announcement; in this instance an additional SF‑50 proving one‑year time‑in‑grade is required.Driver License Requirement : Incumbent must possess a current, valid state‑issued Driver License for this position. Applicants wishing to receive credit must indicate the nature of duties, responsibilities, and hours per week for each volunteer position.Responsibilities Direct, supervise, and manage the primary inventory point that receives, stores, and issues supplies and materials for both clinical and administrative service areas.Plan and coordinate work to be accomplished by other staff; establish departmental priorities; oversee receipt and distribution of supplies and materials; maintain stock at inventory locations; monitor expiration dates.Ensure supplies are delivered timely; train new employees; answer questions on local processes and procedures; ensure proper storage of supplies and materials.Resolve problems and provide guidance to others on logistics activities; recommend improvements to work production and quality.Responsible for storage and distribution of supplies to primary and secondary inventory points and within bulk supply areas; assist in counting, storing, rotating, and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets.Physical Requirements and Work Environment Work is normally accomplished within a supply office and supply distribution points, primarily utilizing the automated inventory system for inventory management, order processing, distribution, and physical inventories. Responsibilities include standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, and pushing or pulling supply carts, and lifting supplies up to 50 pounds. Multiple interruptions occur throughout the day from telephone and personal contacts with individuals requiring information, guidance, or problem solving. Protective and special clothing is worn to prevent exposure to hazardous materials, and hair covers, shoe covers, and gloves are used when delivering supplies into clean/sterile areas and managing verification of inventory stock levels.#J-18808-Ljbffr
