PURPOSE: Incumbent is responsible for organizing the daily dispatch of equipment of the service location, working in compliance with all legal and safety requirements regarding the safe transport of equipment. Dispatchers should possess a background in transportation and industrial equipment and knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and Department of Transportation rules and regulations are preferred. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES: Responsible for scheduling drivers and organizing the daily dispatch of all equipment for the Region. Coordinate transportation demands for equipment needs on a normal and emergency basis Maintain a daily/weekly/monthly log of inventory coming to and leaving the yard. Determine equipment available for use and Out of Service report(s) Check equipment for damage, record hours used, mileage and fuel levels for billing purposes. Inspect equipment and trucks for safety decals and compliance, and ensure that equipment is in good working order. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Less than High School Education Degree Field (s): Work Experience: 0-2 years Supervisory Experience: Not Applicable Related Experience: Knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations Knowledge of GVW's, state regulations regarding height and weight maximums Valid driver's license and acceptable driving history PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma/Equivalent Degree Field (s): Work Experience: 2-4 years Supervisory Experience: Not Applicable Related Experience: Previous dispatch and customer service experience in the equipment rental/construction industry and/or related field. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Precise hand/eye coordination: Constantly Basic keyboarding or other repetitive motions: Frequently Operation of heavy equipment or operation of vehicles: Occasionally Lifting/pushing objects weighing over: 20 lbs: Frequently Climbing and working in awkward and cramped positions: Frequently Other (please specify): Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; infrequent lifting up to 75lbs Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces Exposure to inclement weather, bright lights, loud noise, dust, gas, and/or fumes EOE/Minorities/Females/Veterans/Disabled.
