Deputies also assist area police, fire and ambulance services when requested or directed.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the safety and well-being of all residents in Brown County.Patrol the county, enforce traffic laws, and maintain a positive law enforcement presence.Prevent and detect crimes, constantly aware of potential crimes and public safety hazards.Answer calls and complaints, investigate crimes, motor vehicle, boat, snowmobile, ATV, farm and industrial accidents; collect evidence, prepare reports, prioritize assignments.Assist local police, fire, and ambulance services.Drug recognition and interdiction.Administer first aid.Serve court orders, documents, arrest and/or search warrants.Boat and snowmobile patrol, ERU team.Transport criminals and mentally ill persons.Perform predatory offender registration checks.Attend trainings and meetings.Maintain equipment and patrol vehicles.QualificationsEducation: Associate Degree in Law Enforcement and P.O.S.T. license (Peace Officer License required by the State of Minnesota) preferred. Minimum two years of related experience in law enforcement, reserve peace officer, correctional officer, military police, 9-1-1 dispatcher, security officer, or detox/detention facility preferred.Required Licenses/Certifications: Peace Officer License from Minnesota (P.O.S.T.) Board, Class D MN Driver's license, certifications in Firearms/Use of Force, Taser, Defensive Tactics, First Aid/First Responder, Radar, Defensive Driving, Pursuit Driving, PIT, Use of OC/Mace, Use of ASP (Baton), DUI detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFTS), among others. Deputies must attend refresher courses to keep certifications current.Additional POST Board required courses: Police Ethics, Search and Seizure, Warrantless Arrests, Warrant Arrests, Search Warrants, Implied Consent, Civil Liability, Child Sex Abuse Investigation, Civil Commitments and Vulnerable Adults, Orders for Protection/Harassment Restraining Orders, Domestic Abuse, General Investigations, Serving and Enforcing Orders for Protection, Hazardous Materials, etc.NCIC/HOT FILES Certification: Must maintain certification every two years.RequirementsPeace Officer License from Minnesota (P.O.S.T.)
