Juvenile Corrections Officer

Overview Juvenile Corrections Officer — Open until filled. Starting pay $20.00-$23.00.Responsibilities Provide first-line supervision of juvenile residents of the HJDRC, enforcing facility standards, rules, and regulations.Assist with offender classification, transports, facility counts, and maintaining fire safety, key control, perimeter security, and compliance with offender rules.Provide preliminary interviews for physical/mental health and classification assessments; orient residents, visitors, volunteers, and employees on facility rules and procedures.Serve as a positive role model for youth and staff; ensure safety of staff and residents and support a constructive environment.Qualifications Experience and education: Officer I requires a high school diploma and 6 months of general experience or 6 months of post-high school education; aptitude for correctional work and supervision of staff.Officer II requires 1 year of experience in tribal, county, state or federal correctional facility or an equivalent combination of experience and education; demonstrated aptitude for correctional work and supervision of staff.Officer III requires 2 years of experience in a tribal, county, state or federal correctional facility or an equivalent combination of experience and education; demonstrated aptitude for correctional work and supervision of staff.Must be able to pass drug and fitness tests and a background security investigation.Selected candidates must attend and graduate from the Indian Police Academy's correctional officer training program or an equivalent program approved by the Tribe within one year of starting date.Must be 21 years of age; have a Food Handler's card or be able to obtain one; able to attend trainings and travel; must have a Driver's license and be insurable with the Tribe.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: ability to perform the duties of the position and respond to job elements; possess attributes important to supervising staff in a correctional facility.Other THE HUALAPAI TRIBE IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER/PROGRAMAuxiliary aids and services available upon request to individuals with disabilities#J-18808-Ljbffr
