Crossing Guard

This position provides child pedestrian safety by facilitating safe passage of school children across high traffic streets and intersections. This position requires serious commitment to be at the Crossing Guard post/corner on each school day, before and after school hours. Training will be provided. Current salary is $28.70 per hour. Shifts are generally 1/2 hour in the morning and a 1/2 hour in the afternoon. Position Type: Part-time Job Categories: Support Staff > Safety/Security

Job Requirements

Function: To insure that the effective crossing and the safety of children attending school in crossing intersections. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Assist in providing safe and orderly student crossing to and from school. 2. Fulfilling job requirements outdoors in all weather, including rain, fog, snow, sleet, cold, heat, humidity, and wind. 3. Encourage safe behaviors by all pedestrians at the school crossing. 4. Must possess stamina to stand for long periods of time, mobility to escort pedestrians across streets; ability to work out of doors in all weather conditions and with exposure to traffic; vision to read printed materials and license plates, and hearing and speech to communicate in person. 5. Knowledge of basic safety rules; basic safe driving rules and procedures; and techniques for communicating with children and adults.
