The main function of the Logistics Dispatcher is to coordinate transportation of our customer's freight per their specifications with accuracy, courtesy, and superb service, which ensures quality customer service and supports continued growth with our customers. This position requires a self-motivated professional with the ability to think quickly on his/her feet, exercise independent judgment, and possess the ability to work with our customers and delivery professionals in a professional and courteous manner daily. A successful Dispatcher will have a unique ability to interact with our professional car hauler's and possess the ability to balance their desires with customer requirements, while constantly maintaining focus on the car hauler's revenue requirements and company profitability.
Job Duties
- Plan, coordinate and manage loads in an efficient and cost-effective manner
- Serve as first point of contact for customers and professional car haulers and manage all aspects of the dispatch process which ranges from load assignment to delivery and any issues that may arise during the process.
- Maintain constant line of communication and positive professional relationships with internal and external customers
- Monitor all current orders to confirm accurate pick-up and delivery, focused on performance standards to achieve all customer requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively and professionally; Work in cross-functional team to address service issues as needed
- Other duties as assigned by department manager or senior management
- Effective listening and strong communications skills
- Excellent customer service and resolution skills
- Relationship building skills
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment and handle moderate stress environment
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet
- Ability to learn company-specific programs
- College degree or one year of logistics experience preferably in a trucking environment
- Strong oral, electronic, and verbal communication skills
- Previous supervisory or management experience preferred
- Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations
- Elog experience is a plus
