Skate Rink Guard

Position Purpose/Summary

The primary role of this position is to assist in the planning, organizing, coordinating, and promoting hockey leagues of all ages. Additionally, it involves planning, organizing, and directing classes in figure skating and promoting clinics for instructional skating. The position also includes acting as a scorer or timer of hockey games conducted at the rink, enforcing rules and procedures to ensure the safety of public skating rink patrons, preserving order among patrons and protecting property during skating sessions, assisting in maintaining the condition of ice surfaces by operation of scraping and related equipment, and keeping the rink and related structures in clean and orderly conditions. Other related duties as required may also be assigned.

Essential Functions

• Assists in the planning, organizing, coordinating, and promoting hockey leagues of all ages
• Assists in the planning, organizing, and directing of classes in figure skating and promoting clinics for instructional skating
• Acts as scorer or timer of hockey games conducted at the rink
• Enforces rules and procedures providing for the safety of public skating rink patrons
• Preserves order among patrons and protects property during skating sessions
• Assists in maintaining the condition of ice surfaces by operation of scraping and related equipment
• Assists in keeping rink and related structures in clean and orderly conditions
• Performs related work as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Considerable experience in skating and in assisting in organizing and promoting hockey leagues and skating instruction
