The Division of Adult Institutions is currently recruiting to fill a Deputy Warden position. This position will be headquartered at Columbia Correctional Institution (CCI) in Portage, WI.

Position Summary

This position will develop, implement, administer, and manage security, treatment, and support services for CCI. The position will also provide the appropriate information to agencies, the legislature, and the public on institution development and operation, and implement the Affirmative Action/Civil Rights Compliance Plan (AA/CRC) plan in its areas of responsibility.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 81-01 with a starting pay of $55.92/hour - $61.51/hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A two-year Career Executive trial period will be required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

• Working in a supervisory role (e.g., reviewing work of others, training/orienting new employees, assigning work of others, establishing operating procedures).

• Developing and implementing policies and procedures for a security setting.

• Interpreting, implementing, and monitoring statues, administrative rules, and/or organizational unit policies.

In addition to the above, well-qualified applicants will have experience:

• With management or leadership of day-to-day operations in a multi-disciplinary security setting.

• Conducting investigations (e.g., personnel, PREA, workplace incident)

• Working in a security or correctional setting
