Security Guard | Part-Time | Mobile Convention Center

The Security Guard position secures, protects, and safeguards the Mobile Convention Center, Civic Center, Theater, equipment, and grounds—guarding against and reacting to situations involving potential for fire, theft, vandalism, and/or other causes. Coordinate the foot-traffic flow of patrons and visitors to the venue.

This role pays an hourly rate $12.00-13.00

Responsibilities

• Conduct "rounds" inside and outside of the convention center, observing and reacting to irregularities such as prowlers, fire or potential causes of fire, or other potential causes of loss or damage to property.
• Involve other safety, fire, and city patrol officials as the situation warrants. Prepare associated reports and involve others as the situation merits.
• Monitors fire panel for complex at all times.
• During facility events, directs and controls the flow of patrons, responding to questions, providing direction, and reacting to situations requiring support and intervention.
• Ensure that facility and ground lights are set (on/off) as necessary and that facility doors and property gates are properly secured.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• 1 year of related security guard experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with 2-way radios.
• Teamwork-oriented and positive attitude to welcome guests.
