Deputy Engineering Project Lead

As the Deputy Engineering Project Lead, you will be part of a team located in the DMV area that evaluates and manages the delivery of new amphibious ships, auxiliary ships, and landing craft to the fleet and sustaining existing fleet assets. Our team is led by a Program Manager having decades of experience working in the DoD and shipbuilding industry. Our Naval Acquisition and Sustainment Operation provides critical services to nearly all U.S. Navy ships and craft and supports surface ship maintenance, modernization, and sustainment. Working in our Arlington, VA office, you will work closely with Government, maritime industry professionals, and support personnel. In This Role You Will:
- Lead the technical team's change tracking and development of work productions for the Craft Change Document (CCD) process.
- Assist the task lead with managing the customer's business plan, including task planning sheet (TPS) management, development of POM issue briefs, and development of budget exhibit updates.
- Become familiar with the SSC, LCAC, LCU, and LSM HM&E and C4N systems and provide technical recommendations.
- Become familiar with the Navy's test and evaluation process, including pre-delivery builders and acceptance trials (BT and AT), developmental testing (DT) including post delivery test and trials (PDT&T), and operational and integrated testing (OT/IT) including initial and final operational test and evaluation (IOT&E and FOT&E).
- Provide assessment, analysis, and recommendations for various test events.
- Identify potential cost impacts/savings for various technical proposals and their impact to the end user upon introduction to the fleet.
- Develop online databases, status updates, and metrics as requested.
- Participate in regularly scheduled program reviews
- Provide technical and programmatic guidance for: cost and schedule; statement of work (SOW) and data requirement list (DRL) for shipbuilder/contract service provider submissions system upgrades.
- Travel to assist and provide assessment/analysis for test events, plans and reports.
- Participate in design reviews
- Provide administrative support to brief issues and maintain technical baselines.
- Provide program management and technical support to the U.S Navy's Amphibious Assault and Connectors Program's engineering, test and evaluation, and planning yard teams.
- Keep track of high priority tasks and drive issues to resolution
- Assist customer with managing overall workload and establishing and maintaining processes
- Serve as a key communication interface to the customer leads
- Oversee large projects for the contractor technical and test and evaluation teams and, when applicable, task team members with completing those projects
- Assist the task lead with coordinating the contractor teams.
- Produce white papers, briefs, and other deliverables as requested by the customer
- Organize and track action items.
- Review and provide feedback on team work products prior to delivery to client.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- US Citizenship.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in an Engineering discipline.
- 4 years of similar/related/relevant experience.
- Strong communication and program management skills.
- Ability to learn shipbuilding acquisition, design, production, test and trials, and configuration management.
- Experience with systems engineering
- Ability to provide analytical support.
- Ability to travel up to 10% for work purposes.
