    Duties and Responsibilities:

Join an inspiring convergence research team that champions deep integration across disciplines. As a Postdoc, you will spearhead the innovation, development, and implementation of transformative socio-technological solutions for the Latinx and underserved patient communities, addressing unmet needs and fostering trust and accessibility to diabetes technology.

Your journey will unfold through a visionary work plan encompassing three dynamic stages over a three-year cycle: Discover, Identify Solutions, and Research and Develop. In the "Discover" stage, you will dive into extensive literature reviews, pioneer methods to recruit people with diabetes (PWD) from local communities and conduct insightful surveys and interviews. The "Identify Solutions" stage will see you collaborating closely with the Medtronic team to meticulously craft and refine solution strategies, validated through expert consultations and comprehensive participant feedback. During the "Research and Development" stage, your creativity will flourish as you ideate innovative solutions, meticulously design and implement these concepts, and subject them to rigorous testing.

Under the visionary guidance of the ARCS director faculty and a Medtronic advisor, you will lead as the principal investigator. You will drive collaborations with our esteemed industry partner, Medtronic, and lead a vibrant team of graduate and undergraduate students from CSUN. Your role will also involve collaborating with advisors and partners to forge new research thrusts, secure grant funding, and craft compelling funding proposals.

    Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Health Sciences, Medical Anthropology, Gender Studies, Bioengineering, or other relevant fields. Candidates from other disciplines will be considered if they demonstrate a multidisciplinary background encompassing areas such as ethnography, data analysis, statistics, research with human participants, and medical human factors.
    • 1-2 years of impactful experience in a research setting.
    • Fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken.

    Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:
    • Proven experience conducting fieldwork within underserved and under-resourced communities.
    • An insatiable eagerness to learn and grow, with a readiness to embrace feedback from peers and mentors, thriving in a collaborative environment.
    • Exceptional written communication skills, particularly in developing competitive grant proposals.
    • Outstanding verbal communication abilities, especially in presenting research findings and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
    • Proficiency in working within highly interdisciplinary, technical settings, including collaborations with biomedical engineering experts.
