Mendocino County Counsel Office is seeking an experienced civil law generalist to provide legal representation to county boards, departments, and special districts as well as represent the Child Protective Services Agency. The ideal candidate must be willing to represent the Child Protective Services department as well as participate in litigation matters, have a background in employment law and have strong legal research, writing and trial advocacy skills. This is an at-will position requiring graduation from an accredited law school, licensure to practice law in California, and two years experience as a civil or government attorney.
Primary responsibility is to provide legal counsel to the County, its boards, commissions, department heads, and officers as assigned; work consists of varied and complex professional duties. This is an advanced-level position in the Deputy County Counsel series.
Education and Experience:
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school; AND, current active membership in the State Bar of California; AND
Deputy County Counsel II: At least one year of full time experience as an attorney practicing governmental or civil law
Deputy County Counsel III: At least two years of full time experience as an attorney practicing governmental or civil law
Deputy County Counsel IV: At least three years of full time experience as an attorney practicing governmental or civil law
OR
Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Licensed to practice law in the State of California
Valid Driver's License
