DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND WOMEN'S STUDIES
Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position
POSITION AVAILABLE: One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2024, and/or Spring Semester 2025.
THE DEPARTMENT: The interdisciplinary Department of Human Development and Women’s Studies consists of 9 tenure-track faculty and a number of part-time lecturers, and offers an undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor’s degree to over 575 majors. Curriculum focuses on human development from interdisciplinary perspectives throughout the lifespan and prepares students to work with people of all ages in a culturally diverse society.
DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Teaching one or more courses in the following areas: behavioral, biological, social, cultural, or experiential approaches to human development; childhood, adolescence, adulthood, women’s development, or aging: cognitive development, language development, relational contexts of human development; qualitative/quantitative research methodologies; and women’s studies. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.
RANK AND SALARY: Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $5,507 - $6,677
Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224
Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523
Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall Semester begins August 19, 2024 and Spring Semester begins January 21, 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have strong backgrounds in anthropology, biology, cognitive science, linguistics, psychology, sociology, women’s studies, or other disciplines that contribute to the study of Human Development and Women’s Studies. M.A. or M.S. and evidence of teaching experience, professional growth, and a strong interest in student development are required: Ph.D. is highly preferred. Ability to use Canvas online instructional system is required for courses.
