DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS AND BIOSTATISTICS
Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position
POSITION AVAILABLE: One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2024, and/or Spring Semester 2025.
THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Statistics and Biostatistics offers an undergraduate degree in Statistics with an optional concentration in Data Science, two post-baccalaureate certificates (in applied or mathematical statistics), and master’s degrees in both Statistics and Biostatistics. The Statistics MS degree offers four concentrations (Actuarial, Applied, Data Science, and Mathematical Statistics). The Department also teaches basic statistics courses for many major programs throughout the University. The concentrations in the MS Statistics program allow students to customize their program specific to their career and academic goals while the MS Biostatistics program is a Professional Science Master’s (PSM) degree ( https://www.professionalsciencemasters.org/) designed for students who are seeking a graduate degree in biostatistics and understand the need for developing workplace skills valued by top employers. The MS programs focus largely on applications and methodology. The courses are designed to prepare students.
DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Part-time positions teaching undergraduate statistics courses including general introductory statistics along with those oriented toward various disciplines in business, natural and social sciences, humanities, and engineering. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.
RANK AND SALARY: Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $5,507 - $6,677
Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224
Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523
Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall Semester begins August 19, 2024 and Spring Semester begins January 21, 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirement of M.S. in Statistics or Biostatistics (Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics preferred) or M.S. degree in a related field of application with teaching experience.
