    Senior Psychiatrists (Forensic)

    Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) currently seeking Psychiatrists for our new Stein Hospital
    located in Las Vegas, NV. This position supports SOUTHERN NEVADA ADULT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
    (SNAMHS), Stein Hospital. The Stein Hospital is a secure forensic hospital providing inpatient forensic services for adults
    who are court committed. Stein Hospital serves as a training site for senior psychiatric residents for the University of
    Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine as well as for APRN students from multiple national programs with intent to
    become a major training site for the UNLV School of Medicine forensic psychiatry fellows in 2021.

    SALARY AND Benefits: Annual salary is $201,133. National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program is
    available in our NHSC-approved sites. Relocation & J-1/H-1 Visa assistance is available. Excellent benefits package
    including health, dental, and vision insurance, Public Employees Retirement Plan, three weeks paid vacation, three weeks
    sick leave, holidays, and no state, county, city, or Social Security tax!
    DESCRIPTION: Incumbents will be expected to consult with the facility treatment teams to develop treatment plans,
    provide psychiatric assessments, and prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications. As a member of the treatment
    team, the Senior Psychiatrist is expected to complete the statutorily required assessments of criminal competency for the
    courts and be available to testify as an expert witness when subpoenaed. The position also requires participation in
    training forensic examiners for the Division of Public and Behavioral Health as required by law.
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants must be Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrists and be eligible for
    licensure in the State of Nevada. Board eligibility or board certification in forensic psychiatry is highly desirable. Applicants
    must possess and maintain NV medical license, DEA certification, State Board of Pharmacy license and CPR certification
    at the time of appointment. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, all positions in this class have been identified as affecting public
    safety. Persons offered employment in this class must first submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled
    substances. Fingerprinting and a background investigation through the FBI and NHP are required. The employee is
    responsible for all fingerprinting fees.
    SPECIAL NOTES AND REQUIREMENTS: NRS 433.267 requires that Psychiatrists employed by the Division of Public
    and Behavioral Health be certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology within five years from the date of
    employment.

    The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level.
