    DUTIES

    ANNUAL SALARY
    $58,150 to $85,002

    Appointments from the eligible list are made at the lowest pay grade. Per Diem appointments from the eligible list are hired at an hourly rate ($27.85). The majority of positions available are per diem.

    Initial appointments are anticipated to be made on a per diem basis.Annual salary is at the start of the pay range. The current salary range is subject to change. Please confirm the starting salary with the hiring department before accepting a job offer.

    Under general supervision, assists physicians, registered nurses and other health specialists in performing patient care activities, such as obtaining vital signs, and performing diagnostic testing; and performs related duties as required.

    REQUIREMENT(S)/MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S)

    Possession of a valid and current California License as a Licensed Vocational Nurse; and Possession of a certificate from the State of California for intravenous therapy and blood withdrawal; and Possession of a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider CPR card.

    At the time of appointment, candidates must submit verification of their current, valid certificate from the State of California for intravenous therapy and blood withdrawal and their American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider CPR card.A valid California driver’s license is required. Applicants will be disqualified and not eligible for hire if their record within the last 36 months reflects three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents, or a conviction of a major moving violation (such as DUI).One year of full-time paid professional licensed vocational nurse work experience drawing blood, performing EKG’s, and administering medication and injections is highly desired.

    The examination will consist entirely of review of candidates' City employment application by Personnel Department staff to ensure that minimum requirements are met. Since these reviews will be made solely on the basis of the written information contained on the candidate's City employment application, it is each candidate's responsibility to ensure that the application is complete with accurate descriptions of relevant experience.

    NOTES :
    You may take the Licensed Vocational Nurse examination only once every 180 days.
