    Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Kinesiology

    Our goal is to provide educational opportunities and a variety of practical experiences that will help prepare students for professional careers and/or advanced study. The department offers courses, labs and real-world experiences specific to careers in exercise physiology, biomechanics, sport and exercise psychology, public school teaching, athletic training, coaching, corporate fitness and wellness, clinical exercise physiology, and more. We have an energetic, well-educated faculty, who are very involved in teaching, research, health and wellness promotion, and athletic performance. We are a very cohesive, student-oriented department. All of our faculty are committed to working together to help students achieve their personal goals.

    College Overview:

    Residents and communities in the Central California region continue to face serious issues within the health and human service environment that will require continuing generations of well-prepared health and human service professionals. Students in our college are engaged in academic departments and programs including: Communicative Sciences and Deaf Studies Kinesiology, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Public Health, Recreation Administration, and Social Work Education and Gerontology. The College also includes several off-campus research and training centers. The primary goal of our college and university is ensuring that students succeed in their chosen discipline.

    The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses such as:
    • KAC Instructor - teaching students in a variety of activity courses that range from dance to basketball, please see the University course catalog for class offerings,
    • Lecturer - Instructing students in one of many specialized Kinesiology focused courses/ labs, please see the University course catalog for class offerings,
    • Student Teaching Supervisor - Coaching students in their last semester of the credential program at their respective school sites, and ensuring they are well prepared to begin their teaching career.
    • or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students

    Instructor Responsibility: Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306 , paragraph 2. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e. asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).

    Conditional Appointment

    Please be advised that an appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. These provisions state the “Order of Work,” or the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty, starting with tenure line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees.

    Appointees will be required to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions).

    Compensation - Commensurate by qualifications and experience within salary range placement. The salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers).

    The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master's degree is $4,530.00 - $6,056.00 per a month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per an academic term.

    Anticipated Semester

    The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the Department. Appointments from the pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool will remain in place for two academic terms; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply.
    • Fall 2024: August 19, 2024 - December 23, 2024;
    • Spring 2025: January 15, 2025 - May 23, 2025

    Required Qualifications:

    Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.): A Master's degree or higher in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sport Psychology, Athletic Training, or in a related field.

    Experience :
    Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. For KAC Instructors: Specialized experience in the topic being taught.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    A current Physical Education credential is preferred for supervision of student teachers. Certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association is preferred for instructors who teach strength and conditioning (KAC 21). A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, which may be exhibited through prior teaching experiences and teaching evaluations or other evidence. Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Expertise in a closely-related Kinesiology discipline
