    Salary: $2,857 - $3,000 semi-monthly *Salary may be commensurate of education and/or experience

    Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, Northeast Regional Office, 1709 Prospect Drive, Macon, MO 63552.

    You will be supervising the Engineering and Public Drinking Water Compliance Units of the Northeast Regional Office, where you will work to protect the water quality for the Northeast Region. You will provide professional engineering expertise in the implementation of federal/state laws and regulations related to public drinking water protection, and wastewater management.

    • Provide supervision and guidance to team members in the Northeast Regional Office Engineering and Public Drinking Water Compliance Units and oversee work in the program areas of Wastewater and Drinking Water. Oversee daily operations and ensure inspection goals/U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) commitments are met.
    • Review and evaluate the technical decisions, recommendations, and reports prepared by technical team members. Review and evaluate team member performance.
    • Review and comment on engineering reports and project plans and specifications, submitting comments to the appropriate Department program as requested.
    • Conduct engineering inspections of work under construction and final inspections of completed construction. Prepare and issue Final Construction Approvals.
    • Provide compliance and technical assistance to the regulated community and general public on wastewater and drinking water requirements, both in the office and onsite.
    • Perform other related work as assigned.


    • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri and 6 years of relevant experience (Substitutions for experience may be allowed).
    • The ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.
    • Preferred engineering disciplines would include the following: Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
    • Working knowledge of regulations governing drinking water and wastewater facilities.
    • Technical knowledge of engineering design and standards, operation, maintenance, and management of drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities and distribution/collection systems.
    • Ability to apply broad application of engineering knowledge, relevant policies, and engineering standards.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize work assignments and manage multiple tasks with varying timelines.
    • Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
