    Position: Full-Time Lecturer, Associate Director, Geo-SPaCE - Geospatial Analysis for Community Engagement Lab (1 to 3-academic year(s) appointment, renewable)
    Effective Date: August 19, 2024 (Fall Semester)
    Salary Range: The Full-Time Lecturer B (Academic Year) classification salary is $71,100 to $151,128 per academic year (paid as 12 monthly payments). The anticipated hiring range is $85,000 to $90,000 per year. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Geography or related field with specialization in applied geospatial science related to the geographies of community, culture, social and racial justice, and/or environmental justice.
    • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence
    • Demonstrated or potential ability for directing a center or institute
    • Demonstrated or potential ability to generate funding for community-engaged research and student support
    • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Specialization in two or more of the following areas: community engagement, social and racial inequalities and vulnerabilities, sustainability, climate adaptation, resilience, multiple research methods
    • Experience collaborating with community organizations and/or Government agencies
    • Successful grant-seeking record with established ties to community institutions, industry, or government agencies
    • Experience in leading and/or managing applied community-focused geospatial-related projects
    • Demonstrated ability to supervise student work on collaborative community-focused geospatial-related projects
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas and information to multiple audiences using a variety of document types (e.g., maps, statistics, evaluation reports, executive summaries, research briefs, etc.)
    • Teaching experience demonstrating excellence on the university level

    Duties:
    • Seek grants and contracts to support applied student-community projects and partnerships
    • Identify and build on existing partnerships and relationships both within the University and between the University and local and regional communities
    • Employ a community-based research approach to solving local problems through establishing new partnerships and collaborations with related businesses, organizations, and nonprofits
    • Supervise undergraduate and graduate student work on collaborative community-focused geospatial-related projects
    • Teach courses at the lower and upper division and at the graduate level including Interdisciplinary multiple research methods centered around geospatial community engagement including Public Participation GIS (PPGIS)
