Job Summary**Mohave County Department of Public Health-Nursing is recruiting for a temporary part-time Nurse Practitioner for our Family Planning/STD clinics up to 20 hours weekly.**
This is a non-benefits eligible "at will" (Unclassified) position, however, some work assignments may require enrollment into the ASRS (Arizona State Retirement System) depending on length of assignment and the amount of weekly hours worked. The hourly rate varies and is set by the hiring department. Incumbent performs paraprofessional work assignment to assist in various Mohave County departments with project, or special programs that are short term in nature and is considered temporary.
REPORTS TO: A higher level of Authority.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED May be assigned supervisory duties to assist in training or mentoring newer or less experienced employees.

- Performs and completes assigned projects related to the specific department assigned to.
- Responds to routine non-technical questions in person and on the telephone.
- Assists public in person or over the telephone with filling out forms or processing paperwork.
- Performs receptionist duties; greets, directs, and refers visitors and callers; checks in visitors.
- Takes and transmits messages.
- Makes appointments; completes routine request forms.
- Performs general clerical work; typing, ordering supplies, sorting and distributing mail, copying documents.
- Performs general records copying, filing and retrieval.
- Researches issues as assigned.
As assigned to Public Health:
- Create and maintain a supportive work environment with other departments and community programs, Public Health divisions, and Public Health leadership on accreditation domain while maintaining a culture of quality improvement.
- Apply basic principles, practices, techniques, teaching, and communication methods related to the age, gender, race/ethnicity, educational level and socioeconomic status of community members.
- Communicate and act in a cultural competent and professional manner maintaining cooperative relationships with community members, co-workers, and work contacts
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS - Performs related work as required.
- Performs special assignments as requested.
- Exercise regular and predictable attendance and punctuality in accordance with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Minimum Qualifications- Any acceptable combination of education and experience equivalent to licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing; certification as a Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Midwife by the Arizona State Board of Nursing to practice in the specialty area for which qualified; graduation from an accredited school of nursing and two (2) years of nursing experience (A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required, a Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred).
- OR any combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates potential ability to perform the duties of the position.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Must maintain and possess a current license as a Registered Nurse and certification as a Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Midwife for practice in the specialty area for which qualified issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
- Must maintain and possess approval by the Arizona Board of Nursing to prescribe and dispense medications.
- Must maintain prescription and dispensing certification issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as required and may be required to maintain and possess current DEA license issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration as required by some positions.
- Willingness to attain additional knowledge in the health and nutrition field through reading of health-related information and materials and attending training and educational classes.
- Must possess a valid driver's license for operation of motor vehicles on Arizona roads at the start of employment and maintain said license while employed in this position.
- Provide acceptable driving history at no cost to the County.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of:- Business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
- Modern office practices, procedures, methods, and equipment including entering and retrieving information from a computer database, creating spreadsheets, and composing letters and forms using Microsoft Word.

- Prepare and write materials related to department programs sufficient to inform the public and clients about department programs.
- Comply with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures, and Department Regulations.
