    Job Description

    Position Description: This position will serve District 2 County Health Departments. Responsible for performance initiatives related to local and statewide community engagement and planning. Assigned responsibilities involve planning of complex initiatives, developing and coordinating community engagement improvement plans, systems and policy actions for the local health district. This position will interact with local health department leadership as well as community and county key stakeholders, from both the public and private sectors in Oklahoma.

    This position ensures the development of local strategic plans and goals that align with agency strategic plans and statewide goals. The overall mission of such plans, goals, and projects/programs is to improve population at the local level.

    Duties:
    • Form partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to develop comprehensive health improvement plans and involve community members in their implementation and evaluation.
    • Build relationships with stakeholders and provide support to facilitate their engagement in health improvement efforts.
    • Organize regular meetings and forums for community stakeholders to discuss progress, share updates, and address challenges.
    • Establishes and maintains partnerships with agencies, communities, or organizations in determining the need for specialized health education programs and the planning, implementation, and evaluation of such programs; this includes strategic planning, the use of logic models, development of performance measures, and specific application of health behavior theory.
    • Coordinate and involve community members, organizations, and stakeholders in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the local health district's plans.
    • Collaborate with community partners to establish performance goals and outcomes that align with community needs.
    • Work with community leaders and residents to identify priority areas for health improvement and co-create solutions.
    • Provide leadership with insights gathered from community engagement activities to inform priority setting and decision-making processes.
    • Share expertise on community engagement to enhance collaboration and integrate community perspectives into planning and performance management.
    • Involve community members in data collection efforts and collaborate with community-based organizations to analyze and interpret data for targeted interventions.
    • Advocate for policies that address community health needs and engage community members in advocacy efforts.
    • Cultivate partnerships with community-based organizations, businesses, schools, and other entities to leverage resources and maximize impact.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Level II: Master’s degree in any of the following fields: public administration, public health, business, social work, or a closely related field or bachelor’s degree in one of the previously stated related fields plus at least two years of professional experience in strategic planning, performance management, public policy, management of complex projects for public, private, or nonprofit organizations, and state and federal policies and regulations.

    Level III: Master’s degree in any of the following fields: public administration, public health, business, social work, or a closely related field or bachelor’s degree in one of the previously stated related fields plus at least three years of professional experience in strategic planning, performance management, public policy, management of complex projects for public, private, or nonprofit organizations, and state and federal policies and regulations.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an office setting with a climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise level. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires long period of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. Must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with this position

    Telework: This position is not eligible for Telework and is subject to OSDH policy and supervisor’s discretion.
