Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position -- for CLAS 105: Class Acts course
POSITION AVAILABLE: One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2024, and/or Spring Semester 2025. ** This is to teach CLAS 105: Class Acts **
THE DEPARTMENT: The College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences is the home to more than 18 different departments and programs. DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Serve as the instructor for CLAS 105: Class Acts: Navigating the First Year Experience, a required course for all first year students majoring in CLASS degree programs. The course is geared to the student body at CSUEB, addressing topics pertaining to first-year student success while integrating a social justice focus and building a community of students within the classroom. All prospective faculty are expected to work with the Peer Academic Coaches program, and to complete a summer institute devoted to Liberatory Pedagogy sponsored by the University INSPIRE program. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.
RANK AND SALARY: Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $5,507 - $6,677
Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224
Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523
Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall Semester begins August 19, 2024 and Spring Semester begins January 21, 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in any field. A successful candidate should demonstrate familiarity with teaching and/or advising first-generation, first-time college students and diversity in student learning styles. Candidates must be available to teach in-person.
