    Full-time position available with the Water Department, Permitting & Development located at 414 E. 12th St.
    Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/Month
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

    Responsibilities

    • Utilizes knowledge of construction practices used in a wide range of building and capital projects.
    • Plans, implements and completes major assignments.
    • Coordinates activities with other governmental agencies, city departments, and staff.
    • Assignments are received in both oral and written form and may involve several projects simultaneously.
    • Reviews site disturbance, grading, stream buffer, and privately constructed public infrastructure applications for adherence to adopted standards and City Codes.
    • Reviews floodplain development plans for compliance with Chapter 28 of the city's Code of Ordinances.
    • Reviews development plans, preliminary plats, final plats, and building plans for compliance with the City's site disturbance, grading, stream buffer, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and floodplain requirements.
    • Prepares permit information in the City's enterprise permitting system.
    • Provides technical assistance to internal and external customers regarding KC Water Permitting & Development policies.
    • Tracks and closes out permits as needed.
    • Coordinates with inspectors.
    • Responds to correspondence and calls from internal and external customers.
    • Interacts with other utilities, departments, and agencies to resolve policy or procedure questions.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, project management, construction management, engineering technology, construction engineering technology, engineering, city planning, landscape architecture, or architecture and 6 years professional experience in project management or project management related work. OR an accredited Master's degree in business administration, public administration, project management, construction management, engineering technology, construction engineering technology, engineering, city planning, landscape architecture, or architecture and 4 years professional experience in project management or project management related work. OR a certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and 6 years as a PMP working in project management or project management related work. Must pass a preemployment drug screen. Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Will be required to obtain a Missouri driver's license within nine (9) months.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
