    The Position

    Photogrammetrist/Cartographer's perform remote sensing work in the preparation of contour maps, terrain models, profile sheets; digital animated fly-through and related mapping materials requiring the application of photogrammetric or cartographic techniques.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    The Imagery Section of the Location Division in Carson City is looking for a Photogrammetrist/Cartographer with excellent remote sensing, surveying, and GIS skills. The candidate should know how to create contour maps, terrain models, digital animated fly-throughs, among other mapping materials. The position requires proficiency in various photogrammetric skills, such as UAV technology development, image processing, aerial survey mission planning and camera operation, digital and hard copy imagery production, orthophoto production, Digital Terrain and Surface model creation. The candidate will also develop precise 3D models from sources such as LiDAR, photogrammetry, aerial imagery, CAD, and GIS. They will use specialized software such as Photogrammetry software, CAD, GIS, and Graphic Arts. The ideal candidate should have enough knowledge and proficiency to work independently without additional training.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in photogrammetry, cartography, physical science, geography, civil engineering, or related field and one year of photogrammetric and/or cartographic experience which included compiling digital map files from aerial photography and survey data; operating manual and computerized photogrammetric or cartographic equipment; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in photogrammetry, cartography, physical science, geography, mapping, surveying, civil engineering or related field and two years of progressively responsible experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Photogrammetrist/Cartographer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Additional Position Criteria This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification within 90 days of hire. This position requires occasional flying in a small NDOT plane across Nevada for aerial camera production assignments. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
