    The Position

    Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The Aging and Disability Services Division is currently recruiting for a full-time Licensed Psychologist 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following program: Nevada Early Intervention Services (NEIS). Licensed Psychologist 1 will specialize in working with children who have developmental disabilities and related conditions such as Autism, seizures, and traumatic brain injury.

    Conduct Autism diagnostics, prepare comprehensive reports that integrate developmental history, observations, test results and offer consultations for children experiencing behavioral issues and social-emotional delays. Utilize Person-Centered Planning, principles of Positive Behavior Supports, oversees the development of contextual behavioral support plans to address challenging behaviors. Participate in meetings to review the progress of children and in Specialty Clinics like the Autism Clinic. Engage in community outreach to local pediatrician offices, universities, community behavioral agencies to foster collaboration. May involve sitting on a statewide commission or coalition to support stakeholder needs, state initiatives and provide ongoing parent training and counseling for families. Conduct at least one professional knowledge training session per year. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) One year of post-doctoral experience in providing psychological services in an inpatient, outpatient or residential setting. Special Requirements Licensed Psychologist I's and Licensed Psychologist II's must possess current licensure as a Psychologist issued by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain licensure as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
