Recreation Specialist - Lead Building Attendant oversees daily operations, trains and mentors' junior staff, ensures quality standards, delegates tasks efficiently, handles conflicts, enforces policies, and communicates with supervisors. They make decisions during unsupervised shifts, maintain security, and manage special projects, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
Hours (Average 20 hours per week) Hours depend on rentals and special events.
- Monday - Thursday 3:00 pm - 9:15 pm or later
- Friday Shift depends on special events and rentals
- Saturday and/or Sunday Shift depends on special events and rentals
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: - Training and Supervision:
- Train and mentor less senior building attendants in various tasks, including:
- Rental procedures
- Room setup and breakdown protocols
- Cleaning procedures
- Front desk duties, such as utilizing RecTrac, answering phones, and responding to emails
- Frontline Support:
- Act as the primary point of contact for conflicts, questions, or issues arising within the facility.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct regular checks to ensure the work of less senior building attendants meets standards and expectations.
- Task Delegation:
- Delegate daily responsibilities effectively among the team to ensure smooth operation and efficient task completion.
- Policy Enforcement:
- Monitor and enforce adherence to established policies and procedures by all building attendants.
- Leadership in Action:
- Assume decision-making responsibilities during shifts in the absence of a supervisor or coordinator, ensuring smooth operations and effective problem-solving.
- Effective Communication:
- Serve as the primary liaison between building attendants and supervisors/coordinators, ensuring clear and timely communication of information and updates.
- Security Oversight:
- Take responsibility for securing the building during designated shifts or as required.
- Special Projects:
- Manage and oversee the development of operating procedures for various building operations and tasks.
Ability to:
- Work independently.
- Learn quickly.
- Perform heavy manual labor.
- Work extremely well with others including staff, contractors, general contractors and the public.
- Explain policies and procedures clearly and concisely.
- Analyze minor situations and adopt effective course of action.
- Read, write and understand English.
- Use cleaning materials and equipment with safety and efficiency.
Skills: Operate basic office equipment including copy machine, calculator and personal computer and keyboarding skills. Ability to use cleaning material and equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Sufficient experience and education to perform the above duties.

This benefit accrues at the rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked and is available after 90 days of employment. The maximum use of paid sick leave is 40 hours in a one-year period. There is no cash value associated with benefit.
No other benefits are offered. This position is at will and is not part of the City's Civil Service System. There is no guarantee of hours and employment may end at any time.
