    Earn $4,628 per month (while in Police Academy Training)

    Earn $5,549 per month ($67,932 annually upon graduation)

    TEST DATES:

    January 8, 9, 10, and 11, 2025. Multiple testing times will be offered during that week.

    (Inclement Weather/Backup dates: January 13, 14, 15, 16, 2025. These dates will be determined based on severe weather that requires closure of city facilities only. Candidates will be contacted ahead scheduled testing date)

    APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION: High school diploma; (or GED Certificate, plus 12 semester hours, with a “C” average, from an accredited college or university).

    CITIZENSHIP: Must be a U. S. Citizen at the time of application. (Must be able to read and write the English Language).

    AGE: 20 - 44 years of age; (Must be 20 years of age and not be 45 years of age by the last date of the entry-level test - January 11, 2025.

    LICENSE: Must present a valid and current driver’s license and possess an acceptable driving record.

    ADDITIONAL EXAM POINTS: Additional points up to a maximum of five (5) cumulative points shall be added to a passing exam score as follows:
    • CADETS: Two (2) points for graduates of the Fort Worth Police Department’s Cadet Program.
    • EDUCATION: Five (5) points for Bachelor’s degree (or higher). Education will be verified by Human Resources after the exam.
    • VETERAN: Five (5) points for military veteran candidates with Honorable Discharge per DD-214. In order to receive veteran points, you must email your DD214 showing character of service (Member 4 or equivalent) to CCCTesting@fortworthtexas.gov no later than 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Please include your name and best contact number in the email. DD214s will not be accepted on the day of the examination.

    SPECIAL NOTE:

    To be selected for a Police Academy Training Class, applicants must successfully pass a written or electronic exam, physical assessment tests, a polygraph examination, an interview board, a medical examination, a psychological examination and an extensive background check.

    Following the exam, if you receive a passing score, your name will be added to the Police Trainee Program eligibility list and may remain on the list for one year or until the list is exhausted.

    Medical Program

    The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.

    The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s

Employees can visit any one of the three City of Fort Worth Employee Health Centers and receive guaranteed same or next day appointments for sick visits. Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.

    The Consumer Choice Plan – Is offered to employees at no cost or low monthly premiums to cover eligible dependents and provides the financial benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA).

    • Preventative services are covered at 100% on both plans.
    • Prescription Drug coverage including mail order pharmacy are also included.

    Vacation

    Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually
    6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business.

    Holidays

    Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
