Full-time position available with the Health Department, Communicable Disease Prevention Division located at 2400 Troost Ave
Salary Range: $20.10-$30.64/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Works under the direct supervision of the Public Health Nurse Supervisor for programmatic and clinical issues.
- Exercises prudent judgment and initiative within the Division.
- Uses a high-efficiency respirator mask and other personal protective equipment when delivering services within an area assessed as high risk for exposure to infectious diseases.
- Lifts up to 50 pounds when assisting with community and clinic-based activities.
- Climbs stairs to access client residences.
- Possesses baseline qualifications in patient care delivery, critical disease investigation, and intervention, and mastering prevention-based clinical techniques and procedures.
- Performs the duties of a Public Health Licensed Practical Nurse in the Division of Communicable Disease Prevention and Public Health Preparedness.
- Interacts with clinic patients during the appointment time frame.
- Interacts with patients through greeting, rooming, taking health histories, preparing the patient for exams or procedures, collecting lab specimens, administering medication as directed by the health care provider, and providing education and follow-up directions to the patient.
- Performs all responsibilities professionally and courteously.
- Ensures timely, accurate communication and completes patient documentation, including verbal and written correspondence with the patient or the patient's representative.
Qualifications
Requires: Must possess a Licensed Practical Nurse licensure from the Missouri Board of Nursing. Successfully passed the National Council of Licensure Exam-Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN) Must possess a valid State -issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
